Kirjoitus Parliament Magazine -lehdessä Ranskan EU-puheenjohtajuuskaudesta 19.1.2009
Because of the unexpected financial crisis and Georgian conflict during the Presidency, it became imperative for Sarkozy to adjust his priorities.
Contrary to French EU Presidency in 2000, this time France met the challenges with energy and dynamism.
The Georgian conflict showed us how capable Sarkozy and Bernard Kouchner are as negotiators. But the deal on the climate and energy package did not fully match what I had hoped.
During the same Summit, the EU made an important decision to maintain one Commissioner per country; smaller Member States can be really happy about this.
Finally, I would like to give special thanks for French putting Alzheimer´s high on their agenda!
